On May 28th 2019 Prof Lowitzsch of European University Viadrina (EUV) was invited to present SCORE and "Renewable Energy Communities under the EU 2018/19 Clean Energy Package- A Challenge for Municipalities" at the Energy Cities General Assembly, held parallel to the International Conference on Climate Action (ICCA19) in Heidelberg, Germany. At the ICCA19 Prof. Dr. Lowitzsch moderated a workshop on "Cooperatives and Consumer Stock Ownership Plans (CSOPs)" with Andreas Gißler from the Heidelberg Energy Cooperative and Jaroslav Klusák, energy manager of SCORE beneficiary the Czech City of Litoměřice as the main speakers.
On 23 and 24 May 2019, Prof Lowitzsch from the European University Viadrina (EUV) was given the opportunity to speak at the International Symposium on Environment and Energy Finance Issues (ISEFI-2019) in Paris. The content was a result from a collaboration with Junaid Alam Memon from the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics and Satyendra Nath Mishra of the Xavier University Bhubaneswar, India. In the context of including SCORE, a presentation was held with regards to “Harnessing Consumer (Co-)Ownership in RE in the Asian Energy Transition- Consumer Stock Ownership Plan (CSOP) Financing as an Inclusive Low-Threshold Participation Model for Pakistan and India”. It has been a great pleasure to work together across borders while sharing a common goal and to be able to undertake action beyond Europe.
On 1 and 2 April 2019 we took part in the Energy Allies event in Nantes, France. The event was organised by the German Marshall Fund and Energy Cities. With local governments in the U.S. and Europe rallying to respond to the devastating effects of climate change, the organisers of this event proposed a dialogue on local energy transitions between civil society organisations of cities on both sides of the Atlantic.
On 30 March, representatives of several Polish cities, which follow a progressive policy with respect to the energy transition met in Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland. Prof Lowitzsch of European University Viadrina was invited to the meeting where he presented SCORE - in particular the pilot project in the Polish city of Slupsk and the application of the Consumer Stock Ownership Plan in a local homeless shelter.
