International Conference on New Pathways for Community Energy and Storage 2019

On 6 and 7 June 2019, SCORE was warmly welcomed at the International Conference on New Pathways for Community Energy and Storage in Groningen, the Netherlands. The conference was co-organised by the University of Groningen in cooperation with the University of Twente.
During the session “Responsible Innovation in Community Energy”, Florian Hanke from the European University Viadrina (EUV) presented a working paper that he co-authored with Prof Lowitzsch on the question of how to facilitate the participation of vulnerable consumers in renewable energy communities and the design of an inclusive enabling framework pertaining to the CEP.
The closing speech of the conference was delivered by Prof Lowitzsch with the topic “Investing in a Renewable Future –Renewable Energy Communities, Consumer (Co-) Ownership And Energy Sharing in the Clean Energy Package”. During his talk, he connected questions and opportunities with respect to governance, structure and transactions related to the recast of the EU Renewable Energy Directive 2018 to talks and discussions held prior during the conference. He finally linked the issues discussed to the opportunity of facilitating consumer (co-)ownership in renewables.
