Workshop on Citizen Energy in Essen

Within the framework of the EU project SCORE it is intended to install photovoltaic systems on the roofs of the vocational training school BKO Ost of the city Essen and the nearby Franz-Sales-Haus (FSH). For this purpose on December 14th - despite the pandemic period – the vocational school along with Caritas Germany „Stromspar-Check“ and the European University Viadrina organized a workshop to discuss with a broad audience options of citizen participation and in particular the engagemant of students and teachers in an energy cooperative. Following speakers were invited: Dr. Sascha Geifes (Headmaster BKO), Prof. Dr. Jens Lowitzsch (European University Viadrina and Coordinator SCORE); Mirco Sieg (Green Capital Agency Essen); Kirsten Röber (Caritas Germany „Stromspar-Check) and Simone Raskob (Head of Division Environment, Transport & Sport,City of Essen). While the idea of the CSOP financing model, an overview of shareholder participation and the technical implementation of the Energy Community at the BKO were presented, students and teachers had the opportunity to ask questions and express their opinions and ideas on the matter.
